Ò»±¾µÀ welcomes locals to summer Community Forum

By press office

Members of the local community will be invited on a tour of Queen Margaret University’s newly developed Outdoor Learning Hub and Discovery Trail at Ò»±¾µÀ’s next Community Forum on 19 June 2024 from 6:30 – 7:45pm.

Held twice a year, the Community Forum offers the opportunity for East Lothian representatives and local residents to discuss the University’s work, as well as subjects of common interest.

The summer Forum will take place at The Howff, Ò»±¾µÀ’s outdoor meeting space, which is now officially open to staff, students and the wider community. The Howff is a unique hand-crafted wooden shelterÌýwith a wildflower roof and skylight dome located near the pond, which makes up part of the University’s Outdoor Learning Hub and Discovery Trail.

The meeting will include an optional tour of the Outdoor Learning Hub led by Patrick Boxall, Ò»±¾µÀ Lecturer and Hub Project Lead along with discussion of other subjects of interest to participants.

The Community Forum will cover recent developments at the University, and include an open discussion for community members to bring their thoughts and ideas on how Ò»±¾µÀ interacts with those living and working in Musselburgh, the wider local areas, and beyond.

Jane Scott, Director of Marketing and Communications at Ò»±¾µÀ, said: "

"The Community Forum helps build connections through the exchange of ideas. We truly value hearing from our community as we strive to help strengthen initiativesÌýfor the benefit of all involved."

“There have been some great developments at Ò»±¾µÀ recently and we are excited to share the details of these with all the attendees."

Queen Margaret University always welcomes new members of the community to join the Forum. Anyone interested in attending the summer Community Forum on 19th June should register by emailing marketing@qmu.ac.uk.

Attendees are encouraged to bring an extra layer of clothing in case of ever-changing Scottish weather, but waterproofs shouldn’t be required as The Howff is covered.

The full schedule for the event can be found in theÌýevents section of the Ò»±¾µÀ website.Ìý
